JEFFRIES LEONARD APPOINTED TO CHAIR
D.C. COMMISSION ON AFRICAN AMERICAN AFFAIRS



The Black Women's Agenda, Inc. extends kudos and congratulations to Dr. Kimberly Jeffries Leonard, President and CEO, Envision Consulting, LLC, and our own Vice President - Administration, who was recently appointed the chairperson of the District of Columbia's Commission on African American Affairs by Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Established in 2012, the Commission facilitates dialogue and discourse that help produce policies and legislation that further the interests of the District's African-American community. It seeks input from residents, social services agencies and expert-partners, hosts fact-finding hearings, and submits definitive reports and policy recommendations to the Mayor, Office on African American Affairs, and Council of the District of Columbia aimed at eliminating disparities in such key areas as education, health, housing and economic opportunity.

Dr. Jeffries Leonard possesses a wealth of professional experience in the public health arena, including expertise in minority health and behavioral health programs, policies and legislation. Prior to establishing Envision Consulting, Jeffries Leonard served as Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Center for Substance Abuse Treatment at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. She was also Chief Operating Officer of the District of Columbia's Department of Health.

A graduate of Fayetteville State University, Dr. Jeffries Leonard earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Howard University and a Master's of Science Degree from North Carolina Central University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Vice President of The Links, Incorporated.
